Moutarde Basque is made with AOC status Espelette pepper. These chili pepper plants were brought to the Basque region of S.W. France from South America by a Basque navigator accompanying Christopher Columbus. Introducing them to the exceptional soil of Espelette, these peppers flourished in its new surroundings between the sea and the mountains. AOC Espelette is only grown in 10 Basque villages.
Enjoy this Basque mustard for Canapés and pair with Pâté. Serve on a Charcuterie board with coarse Pâté, Jambon de Paris and other Charcuterie along with Cornichons.
